On the problem of autority

There is a great misunderstanding on the concept of authority and of its relevance in the context of the Omega Initiative.

I will try to make it as clear as possible.

The first mistake is the confusion between the concepts of authority and that of dominion.

The boss do not hold authority, although he often thinks he does, he holds dominion. The perverting power of CAPITAL warps the conscience and the will of his employees. See the Standford Experiment if you ever doubt that.

The leader holds authority. He leads by EXAMPLE. He is respected by his peers AND by his disciples.

He holds the wisdom that is provided by his experience and by his deeds. HIS BEHAVIOUR WILL BE IMITATED. Not his words, which will be imitated only as much as they fit the behaviour of the leader.

The idea behind this is very simple. An organization will only be as good as it’s leader is. It is his reflection. All the emotions that he will to chose to inject in it, to display within it, will be reverberated all throughout it’s structure.

Hence the effective leader rules through optimism, compassion and conviction rather than through dominion, fear and other similar negative emotions.

Furthermore, in the Omega Initiative, authority is limited to the framework of work and only there. The leader of an operation is hence only leader during and within it’s operative imperatives.
